Manny demonstrates one of the most used kicks in martial arts: the roundhouse. It's thrown by mixing the lifting of the knee (chamber) and the pivoting of the hip to create centrifugal force (throwing the center of gravity behind the kick) followed by a quick tug on the quads to extend towards the target and a tug on the hamstrings to retract the kicking leg and return back to the starting stance or whatever you want to do after that. Because the roundhouse is thrown so often, it is relatively simple to counter if read early enough. There are over 9000 ways to dodge, counter, or parry the roundhouse. Thus, Ivan points out the chopping roundhouse variant. It's the same starting sequence as the first roundhouse, but the hips are turned inwards to launch the kick at a 45 degree angle from the top outward corner to the lower inward corner. It increases the potential for contact on the way down and carries a little bit of gravity behind it as well.
