When you take the exit off of Interstate 80, that is about the time to roll up the windows and lock the doors. A short drive through one of the Midwest's worst ghettos takes you to the best railfanning location in Northern Indiana, Pine Junction. This particular location is fairly safe since it's out of the way from the rough parts of town. When you arrive, you will see several tracks running North To South in a fairly small amount of space. To the East, the EJE Eastern Subdivision crosses over a factory access road. Kirk Yard is just south of this. Just West of the bridge is the Norfolk Southern Chicago Line. NS has a small yard just North of the crossing. Right by the NS line is the CSX Barr Subdivision. The majority of the trains run here. Also next to the CSX line is the EJE "City Branch." This line sees about 2 trains a day (if your lucky) and is basically the connection between the EJE and CSX. So I hope you have some idea on the layout of the tracks through here. It could be kind of hard to picture if you've never been here before. So sit back and enjoy the show. The variety out here is great. I gotta come back when it's not as cloudy! June 10, 2008: 18G throttling up hill as 25K zooms down hill moving at a good clip. 18G has NS D9-40CW 9545 and NS D9-40CW 9438, 25K has NS D9-40CW 9891 and NS SD60 6589... with I believe a K5LLA horn on the leader, how interesting.

June 10, 2008: Helpers, Amtrak, and Stacks, all in a matter of minutes. 10N has helpers on both front and rear, and as pulling into a stop at CP-MO, Amtrak whizzes by. As 10N gets the go, the train throttles up and gets moving when 25Z starts heading down hill. I was lucky to catch a blue helper on both ends, 10N has: NS SD40-2 3336 "CRQ" NS SD40-2 3353 NS D9-40CW 9899 NS SD70M-2 2765 NS SD40-2 3363 NS SD40-2 3359 NS SD40-2 3375 "CRQ" Amtrash has P42DC 195 (who cares) I could not see 25Z's power.

June 10, 2008: Helpers NS SD40-2's 3342 and 3351 lead NS SD70 2572 and NS D9-40CW 9293 and a rather long string of roadrailers by the Cresson engine house near CP-MO. At 2:31 the 10,000th roadrailer trailer can be seen. For me, that is probably the 10,000th roadrailer train I have seen, LOL!
