This animation was made to accompany the lovely voice of JoAnna Lynne Decker. She wrote, played and sang this song, and although it is just a taster of the final thing, I loved it and wanted to make something that went with it. This is also my first attempt at turning Jenyffer.Maria's doodles into a story. I hope that the images and symbols are clear about what's going on. I thought it was quite simple, not original, but different. And I'm really proud of it. I was debating whether I wanted to call it an experiment or not, because even though I learnt more things - I knew what I wanted to make and how I wanted to put it together and it was very much made as intended. So, a bit different to all the others! I hope you enjoy it!

The James M. DuPont Meteorite Collection - vs. non- equilibrated (zoned) clasts, (2) the zoning is restricted to the margins of crystals and independent of overall size and (3) the pattern of NiO and FeO zoning are complementary point strongly to the fact that the observed variations are related to diffusional transport of Ni and Fe in olivine in response to changing temperature dependent partitioning of NiO and FeO between olivine rim and a second phase (metal?). This interpretation of the observed zonation suggests that diffusion modelling may provide information about the thermal history of these meteorites and their parent bodies. It is necessary to know the diffusion rates of Ni in olivine to carry out such modelling. Diffusion experiments were performed using oriented single crystals

Made this in an editing session. We were given the clips and were taught how to edit them together to make a coherent short promotional video on Avid. Fun times. Got an actual ex-BBC editor (off Newsnight and other big important stuff) to do the session. She was very good. One thing I'm not happy about with this is that I wanted the last clip to be the guy licking his lips in slow motion, but whenever I used the effect in Avid it fucked up. Stretched the image vertically and generally just didn't work. The BBC lady was just as confused by this as I was, so that's kind of reassuring.

The James M. DuPont Meteorite Collection - surface reaction, P(sub)eq is the equilibrium vapor pressure, and m is the weight of a gas molecule. The calculated vapor pressure of the gas in equilibrium with the melt was converted into the theoretically maximum evaporation flux. The evaporation flux from the melt along the vaporous was calculated (Fig. 2), which shows that the flux of Si is much larger than that of Mg and the difference is larger at higher total pressure. The comparison of the experimentally obtained flux and that calculated from the experiments enables us to estimate the condensation coefficient for Si and Mg. The observed flux ratio of Mg to Si is about 0.2 and that from Fig. 2 is very roughly 0.07, which results in the ratio of the evaporation coefficient for Mg to Si is about 3. In other words,

In US writer Thomas Pynchons case, this is a mantra, cornerstone to a life and labyrinthine oeuvre freighted with ceaseless speculation. In books like V. and Gravitys Rainbow, the covert arenas of the contemporary order (the military-industrial complex, governmental conspiracy, the sinister reaches of science) mesh with counter-cultural values, permeating paranoia, arcane knowledge-systems and profoundly ironic humour in an encyclopaedic investigation of modernity. Central to this is a (doomed) quest for some singular explanation of things, a motif taken up by the Dubini duo in their intriguing derive that takes in his biography, times and obsessive supporters. On the surface its a tall order: Pynchon is one of the great cultural recluses, unphotographed for 40 years, his absence from the flashgun glare now an inseperable part of his project. So the film offers an atmospheric collage, chaptered around varying recollections and his synchronicity with resonant aspects of post-war US society. Apposite newsreel and found-footage of missile experiments and Agency psychedelics tests mix with talking heads, spoken extracts and Pynchons articulate fans. Stand-ins, doubles, lookalike contestants populate a shifting reality, scored to a trippy, fragmented soundscape care of The Residents, that builds towards a compelling final act, searching for the grail of a new image of the writer. Reflecting the hall of mirrors in which the novels, history, the novelist and his researchers move, this documentary, while uneven and occasionally over-extended, provides required viewing for devotees, and should reward those keen to explore the mysterious dynamics of the age via one of their definitive suveillants. The James M. DuPont Meteorite Collection - weathering effect. Laboratory experiments have not been able to reproduce the continuum reddening with heating or simulated shock effects [4]. If the systematic spectral differences between large (%3E20 km) main-belt asteroids and meteorites is not primarily compostional, but is some combination of weathering and regolith affecting the reflectance spectrum, the small NEA spectra should be intermediate between these end-members. These observations represent a statistically significant sample over a wide range to determine the trends. We will put constraints on the processes that can produce these trends to better understand the differences between meteorite and asteroid spectra.
