ADAM PAULADAM PAULADAM PAUL PART4 ADAM PAUL PART 3 adamAdam Paul (2004)While shooting this movie, the director also had to keep shooting commercial video clips, his regular money job, because of the very low film budget. The two lead actors, Tom Murphy who plays Paul (the short one) and Mark O'Halloran who plays Adam (the tall one), were told by the local Garda ( Irish Police) to leave the set as the Garda thought they were real junkies looking to steal items from the set. The film's unit was tiny - one truck for camera, props and make-up and one minivan for the cast and crew. It takes some work to make anyone feel sorry for junkies but 'Adam and Paul' is a film that succeeds beyond any expectation. Yes, it shows the appalling lives of two junkies who have clearly been 'down so long' they have pretty much lost contact with reality, but it also makes you laugh, for even in their lives there is sometimes something amusing. It's grim and the words 'with hilarious consequences' are not going to appear in my review, but the film does show there is still some humanity in them, particularly in the scenes with their pal. Yes, their condition makes them dislikeable people who are always on the look out for money to steal and people to scam from, but we are asked to appreciate that there is a glimmer of hope: no matter how dim. A must see film, but make sure you're in an optimistic frame of mind before you go in, because 'Adam and Paul' will take its toll on the sunniest disposition

Hlinkova garda (HG) bol polovojenský poriadkový zbor zriadený v rámci Hlinkovej slovenskej ľudovej strany ako pomocný orgán štátnych úradov. Sformovaný bol v lete 1938 a legalizovaný v októbri 1938; so súhlasom Beranovej vlády ozbrojená. Prvé jednotky Hlinkovej gardy vznikli v júni 1938 v Bratislave, v júli v Trnave, v Nitre a inde. 28. októbra 1938 sa stala Hlinkova garda jedinou brannou organizáciou na slovenskom území. Až do júna 1940, keď s ňou úplne splynula, bola samostatnou zložkou Hlinkovej gardy Rodobrana, ktorá tvorila jej elitu a uzurpovala si právo na kontrolu Hlinkovej gardy a celého spoločenského života na Slovensku. Počet jej členov sa v samostatnom štáte podstatne zvýšil. Pôvodne mala vykonávať predvojenskú a povojenskú výchovu chlapcov a mužov od 6 do 60 rokov, časom prevzala a prakticky vykonávala mnohé úlohy patriace do pôsobnosti orgánov štátnej moci a správy. Ako jediná branná polovojenská organizácia bola ustanovená v októbri 1938 na základe Nariadenia slovenskej vlády č. 15/1938 Úr. nov. Vládnym nariadením z 5. septembra 1939 sa podstatne rozšírili právomoci Hlinkovej gardy a stanovili sa princípy povinného vstupu aj formou doplňujúcich organizácií (Hlinkova mládež) všetkých mužských príslušníkov od 6 do 60 rokov. Mala vytvorené špeciálne jednotky (jazdecká, letecká, motorizovaná, spojovacia, železničná, akademická HG). Špeciálne kurzy pre najspoľahlivejších viedli nemeckí inštruktori.... Od septembra 1944 sa stala Hlinkova garda popri Domobrane zložkou ozbrojených bezpečnostných síl slovenského štátu, podriadenou Ministerstvu národnej obrany
