Two days later Daisy was sitting at her desk checking her emails, as she scrolled down she noticed one from Henry. She opened it straight away. "Hey Daisy, I know that this is a really shitty way to talk to you about us but it is the easiest way for me to tell you how I feel and to be honest with you. After you left I was heart broken as I thought that you would meet someone else in America. I tried not to seem down on the phone the other day but actually I was really depressed. I spoke to my mum and she said that a long distance relationship would never work and that we should just move on. Therefore I have been thinking about it and though it hurts to say it I think that we should break up and be free to see other people. It will save both of us a whole world of pain. If when we see each other again we still have feelings for each other then we can think about getting back together, but for now let's just be friends. I am truly sorry and I will always love you, Henry xxx" Daisy sat back on her chair stunned. Although she knew that her and Henry were going to break up seeing it in writing made it all the more painful. A tear rolled down her cheek as she reread his words. The truth was that she would always love him too and he had been in her life for so long she couldn't imagine not being with him. She shut the computer with a snap and fell onto her bed. The tears were pouring down now and she couldn't stop them. She was remembering all the good times that they had together, the first time they kissed, the valentine's weekend when Henry took her to Paris, and all the times when they would snuggle on the sofa and watch TV. "Oh come on Daisy, pull yourself together." Daisy mumbled to herself. She started to think about all the arguments that they had been having lately and that time last month when Henry cheated on her. Suddenly her mobile rang; she looked at the caller id. It was Joe. "Hello?" Daisy muttered as she wiped her eyes. "Hello Daisy how are you?" "I've been better thanks" she replied. "Why? What's wrong?" Joe sounded concerned. Daisy wasn't sure if she wanted to tell him, I mean she hadn't told him that she had a boyfriend. "Err... my boyfriend and I just broke up." "Your boyfriend?" exclaimed Joe; he was shocked that she had neglected to tell him such an important piece of information. However hearing Daisy cry made him feel awful so he decided to move past it. "So..." he said trying to think what to say, "how long had you been together?" Daisy could hear in his voice that he was angry with her for not telling him but they had only met each other twice what did he expect? "Two years, we were at school together for five years though." "Wow, that's a long time, how are you feeling?" "Well... I mean I love him and it's going to be really hard without him." Daisy took a deep breath. "But I knew that we were going to break up, you see I am over here for the summer and by the time I get back he will be traveling so we won't see each other until next March. Long distance relationships just don't work, and to be honest we have not been doing so well lately." Joe was intrigued, so she knew that they were over maybe that was why she was flirting with him. 1960s Australian HMV Consort Transistor Radio

This HMV from Australia is one of the most sensitive and great-sounding radios in my collection. It's an eight-transistor model, very sensitive, RF amp front end, and will pull in stations all over the place. It's almost the Aussie version of a GE Superadio. Not only does it pull in stations, it delivers a rich, bassy tone. You've probably noticed the dial is different in that there are no numbers. The Australian call letter system dial was subdivided into its respective states, starting with a number followed by two letters: New South Wales stations started with the number 2, Victoria stations with 3, Queensland stations with 4, South Australia with 5, Western Australia with 6, and Tasmania with 7. The dial was then subdivided into each state and their 2-letter callsigns. So, if you lived in Victoria and wanted to hear station 3AK, you find the Victoria dial scale and tune the pointer to AK. I purchased this directly from Australia, along with a couple other radios, around Christmas 2000. Just needed a quick recap and realignment. Australia used a line of transistor batteries totally different from anyone else. In this case, the HMV uses a 276-P socketed 9-volt battery. It's similar in size to the American 276 but this one uses a two-hole socket for connection.
